The Opening Round - Re-orientation weekend golf tournament
For the first time this year, the Ivey Golf Club organized a tournament on the labour day weekend in order to welcome back returning second year students and to welcome the incoming first years.  I wanted to make it a way to encourage the first-years and second-years to get to know each other, so it was arranged in such a way that each foursome had at least one first-year and two or three second-year students.

The tournament turned out to be very successful.  The weather was absolutely perfect that day, and St. Mary's was, as usual, the perfect place to hold the tournament.  They were very accommodating with our fluctuating number of participants, only charging us for the people who actually showed up.

Unfortunately, the numbers were such that I ended up playing just with other second years, but it was a blast.  I took along my digital camera and took a few shots of the course, which I've included here.

The sixth tee at St. Mary's, waiting for the group in front of us to tee off.

The 18th tee at St. Mary's - a 297-yard straightaway with the main road running along the right side.

Glen and Dave Donovan on the 18th tee.  Dave's celebrating his drive, which was pin-high - even if it was on the other side of the road, sitting in the middle of somebody's front lawn.
